Abstract:

Particle replication in non-wetting templates (PRINT®) is a precision particle-engineering platform developed at Liquidia Technologies that harnesses lithographic manufacturing techniques from the semiconductor industry to enable the manufacture of pharmaceutical particles of precisely defined size, shape, and composition at commercial scale. The PRINT platform has matured from a promising approach to inhaled drug delivery, with early clinical data and a credible path to scale to a commercially validated, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)–inspected manufacturing platform supporting an approved product, YUTREPIA® (treprostinil) inhalation powder, with demonstrated potential across a broader range of applications.

This article will cover the PRINT platform, including its manufacturing evolution, and the range of applications it has been shown to support across pharmaceutical, biological, and specialty materials contexts. A case study of YUTREPIA describes how precise control of particle design can translate into reproducible aerosol performance, clinical outcomes and patient benefit.
