Abstract:
The Explore with Experts panel discussion at Respiratory Drug Delivery Europe 2025 looks to explore the future of inhaled drug delivery and inhaled combination products in the context of what is commonly understood as Industry 4.0 and 5.0 (the fourth and fifth industrial revolutions), as well as the derived Healthcare 5.0. The term ‘Inhalation 5.0’ is coined for the first time for this purpose. The strategic imperatives and disruptive technologies of these various ages of transformation are applied to the thinking around future inhaled combination product developments to predict the nature and diversity of these products in the future; the technologies, digital and otherwise, which will be needed to realize these products efficiently; and the upskilling of the workforce required to be proficient in their use.
