Abstract:
As part of the international trend towards switching medicines from prescription to non-prescription, there has been interest in medicines for long-term conditions, including asthma. The move from the traditional non-prescription domain of treatment of minor self-diagnosable ailments has been slow, with most activity in the United Kingdom (UK) and New Zealand (NZ). This paper provides an international overview of switch and non-prescription availability of inhaled asthma treatments.
