Abstract:
The Alberta Idealized Throat (AIT) was utilized to predict in vivo systemic exposure for dry powder formulations comprising indacaterol maleate. Excellent in vivo/in vitro correlations (IVIVC) were observed (absolute differences ≤ 10%) with respect to total lung deposition, total systemic exposure, the contribution of gastrointestinal absorption to total systemic delivery, and pharmacodynamic response for various formulations. The AIT represents an exciting tool to aid in formulation development.
